Spotted: The Epic Ham Sandwich at Terry’s Turf Club

79

Terry Carter isn’t one to rest on his laurels. On his way home from a recent fishing trip in the Seychelles islands, he set his mind to developing a toasted ham and Gruyere sandwich that also featured asparagus. I sampled the final prototype today and trust me, it was “epic,” as Terry likes to say. High-quality ingredients are what has always set Terry’s food apart from other casual spots around town. Where else can you get a burger with English stilton, foie gras, or a truffled red wine sauce? This new sandwich is the result of that same commitment to quality. Here’s the lowdown—sandwiched between two slabs of 16 Brix sourdough bread, you’ll find Nueske’s applewood-smoked ham, Swiss Gruyere, Adams Gouda, three spears of al dente steamed asparagus, a slice of grilled apple, and an exceptionally meaty slice of Mangalitsa bacon. Served with a side of tomato-basil soup, it’s a high-quality steal at $9.75. I would have posted a photo, but I didn’t want to spoil the surprise!
