Open: Pearl’s Bar

Using repurposed materials to create a bar that caters to the neighborhood was the goal for Pearl’s owners—childhood friends John Tieman, Scott Yards, and Mike Finley. The new Columbia-Tusculum bar opened quietly at the end of March.

The weather-beaten Eastern Avenue house has a rustic, New England vibe, but the interior is a contemporary muted-gray with plenty of dark wood that feels modern, yet clubby. The back wall of the building has been replaced by retractable glass doors that open to a large courtyard patio, complete with an oversized gas and wood-burning fireplace. Plan to drink plenty of craft beer and house cocktails, while nibbling on fancy beef jerky and those addictive Servatii soft pretzels. According to manager Clint Hefner, the small bites menu will debut sometime next week.
