News you can digest.

We. Love. Beer.

Oh yes we do. So much so we’ll have festivals and parades. With goats. And floats with goats. And sausages. And queens. Of all sorts. And we call it Bockfest.

The parade begins Friday, March 2nd, 6:00 pm at Arnold’s Bar & Grill, and is led by a goat pulling a keg of a beer and this year’s Sausage Queen. It winds its way up Main Street towards Bockfest Hall where the keg is blessed and all sorts of bock-soaked revelry transpires.

So celebrate spring, Over-the Rhine, and our rich German heritage. And don’t forget to Rock the Bock. March 2-4. For the complete line-up of the weekend’s festivities and participating venues go to bockfest.com

 The Art of Food

The opening reception for the 6th annual collaboration of visual artists and two-dozen of the area’s top chefs is one of the coolest events of the year. Chefs use the plate as a palette; artists use food to inspire their art, all under the historic splendor of The Carnegie.

Exhibiting artists include: Eric Brass, Leah Busch, Marisa Dipaola, Sayaka Ganz, Sandra Gross, Jeffrey Hayes, Vicky Kimble,
Matt Kotlarczyk, Pam Kravetz, Jim Merz, Carla Morales, Sara Pearce, Kim Shifflett, and Jacquelyn Sommer.

A partial list of this year’s chefs include: Chef Stephen Williams / Bouquet; Renee Schuler / Eat Well; Nicola Palmieri / Europa Bistro; Summer Genetti / Honey; Dave Taylor / La Poste Eatery; Mark Bodenstein / Nicholson’s Gastropub; Daniel Wright / Senate; Jean-Francois Flechet / Taste of Belgium; Jean-Robert de Cavel / Table; Jackson Rouse / SmoQ (Rouse also is spinning a mix of food-related funk and soul).

This event is one hot ticket and always sells out. See you there!

Tickets for opening reception Friday march 2, 6-9pm: In advance: $50 general admission. $35 Carnegie members. At the door: $60 and $45. After opening night reception through April 13th: Free. For info: www.thecarnegie.com or (859) 957-1940

The Best Table In The House

It’s no secret how highly I regard Orchids restaurant. As if the everyday stellar menu and peerless service isn’t enough, now Chef Todd Kelly and Company have turned up the heat to offer Table 110, a “unique and interactive dining experience designed to satisfy and entertain,” according to the award-winning Kelly, “a dinner and a show all in one”. Available on Saturday nights, Kelly creates a 10-course menu showcasing fresh ingredients prepared in his innovative style, each course built to “wow”. “It’s an exciting menu”, says Kelly, where I create fun and exceptional dishes, and the dining experience allows me to interact and have fun with the guests in an unforgettable way.”

That unforgettable fun costs $110 per person (Does it help to think of it as $11 per course?). Pairing wines and craft cocktails is an upcharge. Table 110 seats up to six people. Call (513) 421-9100 to reserve.
