Restoring century-old homes requires attention to the past and present. Lauren Farquhar and Josh Jansen, owners of the renovation company Storied Homes, flipped this Victorian Carpenter Gothic home with a mix of modern touches and historic refurbishments.

Hardwoods
Farquhar and Jansen opted to restore the hardwood floors with York & Sons. “They are our go-to because we trust them to refinish 100-plus-year-old floors,” says Farquhar.

Refinishing
In order to give the master bath a vintage feel, the couple purchased a salvaged sink from Building Value. “We love finding unique pieces of architectural salvage to incorporate in our projects,” Farquhar says. Then, they turned to John Riddle of Advantage Refinishers to spiff things up.

Bathroom Tile
Farquhar and Jansen created their own tile pattern in the other bathrooms by using sheets of black hexagon tiles from Floor & Decor and cutting in white diamonds themselves. “It was more effort, but it was less expensive than purchasing tile in a pre-made pattern,” says Farquhar.
