Great Scott opened in August 2012 in a quirky Tudor roadhouse on Madison Road, the former site of Nick’s Chops & Chasers. The building had been vacant for five years but Krauser and Scott Elsaesser (who own another Great Scott in Withamsville and a diner in Amelia) liked the proximity to Crossroads church and the emerging Oakley Station development.

Walk around a big food-obsessed city, and if you’re lucky, you’ll stumble upon a neighborhood spot that only the locals know, with just a few seats and a chef cooking up flavorful, unfussy food. In Cincinnati, Burnell’s is that place.

On a given day, shoppers at Jagdeep’s Indian Grocery might include a UC student seeking inexpensive microwave dinners, a mom from West Chester’s Sikh community, or a Delhi foodie armed with a recipe for chicken tikka masala.

Folks waiting in the drive-thru lane at First Financial Bank on Montgomery Road may be surprised to hear mooing as traffic whirs past. The bovinal lowing emanates from Finn Meadows Farm, about a tenth of a mile off Montgomery Road.
