Blink, one of the largest projection mapping events in the U.S., returns to the Queen City this weekend, Oct. 10-13. The free event will feature large-scale projection mapping installations, beautiful murals, and interactive art. Blink will span over 30 blocks—from Northern Kentucky to Cincinnati’s Findlay Market—and will take place from 7-11 p.m. each night. Here are five installations you won’t want to miss.
1. Visit the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge at The Banks to listen to the bridge sing. Yes, you read that correctly: the infamous “singing bridge will actually sing! The bridge will be decorated with colored light fixtures that move in sync with musical notes.
2. Check out the Hannaford Building in Covington, which will be animated with architectural projection mapping. Blink commissioned Klip Collective, a pioneer and creative powerhouse in projection mapping from Philadelphia, to illumine the beautiful building.
3. Stroll through Findlay Market on a self-guided tour to spot new street murals. These works of art—completed by Miami-based artist Tatiana Suarez, Polish street artist Natalie Rak, German team Herakut, and more—will be brought to life using projection mapping and lighting projections. If you need a break from exploring the city, grab a snack at the market and take a seat to listen to live music.
4. Head over to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center to admire the Rainbow Bridge—a 27-foot-tall, 15,000-pound multicolored arch featuring more than 25,000 colored LED lights.
5. Take a walk through Fountain Square to check out Fraction, the first-ever architectural surface mapping projection of its kind. Cincinnati’s civic plaza will be entirely illuminated in immersive art through light, color, animation, and sound.
