ESTABLISHED 2021
MISSION Our mission is to increase awareness and promote opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in adaptive sports and recreation in order to improve their quality of life.
SERVING OUR COMMUNITY The Bridge Adaptive Sports & Recreation is a nonprofit making sports accessible to individuals with disabilities. From soccer to skiing, we offer inclusive programs that remove barriers, promote independence, and empower athletes of all abilities to thrive—like the handcyclists who trained for the Flying Pig 10K (pictured above).
Our services include:
• Hosting free “Try-It” events that let people experience adaptive sports with low pressure and no cost.
• Maintaining a robust inventory of adaptive equipment, giving participants the chance to borrow gear and find what works for them before investing.
• Training local volunteers and partners to confidently support athletes with disabilities, creating a network of inclusion and opportunity throughout the community.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP
Since 2021, we’ve doubled the number of athletes served and adaptive sport opportunities each year. With that growth, our need for resources and support continues to rise across the tri-state.
• Volunteer opportunities: We’re looking for volunteers to support a range of adaptive sports—from soccer and paddling to handcycling and more. Many of our programs span several weeks, giving volunteers the chance to build lasting connections with athletes and become part of a strong, mission-driven community.
• Donor opportunities: Donations support The Bridge’s program quality, sustainability, and infrastructure including expansion of staff to accommodate increasing needs of our growing community.
• Adaptive Equipment Pods are storage units placed near parks and trails across Greater Cincinnati, making it easier for athletes to access handcycles, kayaks, and track chairs. With limited infrastructure in some areas, proximity to nature is vital. Each pod costs around $30,000.
