Quince & Quinn seeks sanctuary on Oakley Square

Quince & Quinn is stepping up its game—and its square footage. The eclectic design and furniture store, housed for the past five years in a 2,400-square-foot space tucked behind a parking lot in Oakley Centre, is planning to open a brand new, completely renovated 12,000-square-foot store just down the road on September 1. And owners Beau Bolce and John Hinger haven’t chosen just any old empty storefront; they’ve completely overhauled a disused Baptist church that sits front and center on Madison Road, just steps away from Oakley Square.

The move marks the opening of Quince & Quinn’s new garden center, a drapery workroom, and the expansion of their events design business and upholstered furniture offerings. And the larger space provides a major improvement over their previously cramped environment. “It was like being a caterer in a galley kitchen,” Bolce says.

The new digs didn’t come without effort though: Bolce and Hinger transformed the church into a decor haven by painting the exterior red brick a bright white and stripping out everything non-original to the structure. “It was all pink inside—kind of an ’80s situation,” says Bolce. “We wanted to make it look more churchy.”
