Join hundreds of business, nonprofit, government, and community leaders at the Duke Energy Convention Center on Thursday, May 2, for the 11th annual Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit, hosted by Green Umbrella. Building on last year’s focus on imagining visionary possibilities, this year’s Summit takes a decisive step toward action. The theme, “From Vision to Action,” focuses on ways to align efforts and enact climate solutions. Learn how you can be part of the movement to create a more vibrant, equitable, and thriving region at this year’s Summit.

The event will feature more than 80 speakers, including a keynote by Jacqui Patterson, founder and executive director of the Chisholm Legacy Project: A Resource Hub for Black Frontline Climate Justice Leadership. Patterson was recently named a Time Magazine Woman of the Year for her revolutionary approach to climate justice and her work to connecting frontline Black communities with the resources to actualize their visions. In the lunchtime plenary session, Patterson will be joined by Naomi Davis (Blacks in Green), Tenzin Dolkar (McKnight Foundation), and Dan Saccardi (Ceres) to share insights, examples, and opportunities of how communities, governments, foundations, and businesses can lead the way together to increase climate resilience, enhance equity, and improve environmental health. From mobilizing community members to be climate leaders to helping Fortune 500 companies adopt and advance sustainability goals, they’ll discuss ways each sector can help create a resilient society and economy.

In addition to the keynote, a full day of panel discussions and workshops, the event will include an exhibitor expo, an art show, live performances by Pones and Elementz, and a networking reception. “It’s an incredibly diverse event, with something for everyone,” says Green Umbrella’s event manager Charlie Gonzalez.
