Shopping for baby clothes with said baby in tow can be very unfun. There is often no private place to stop and nurse, the siblings run amok, and you end up leaving with a value pack of white onesies just to get it over with. But Hutch Baby is a highly evolved family-friendly shopping experience.

Hutch Baby got its start at Kenwood Mall, then moved down to an Over-the-Rhine pop-up shop on Elm Street. And just this past Black Friday, owner Alexus Hight opened a permanent storefront, also in Over-the-Rhine, just one block away from the Washington Park playground. “Our concept is clean, vibrant, and fun,” says Executive Manager Ashley Wilson. “We focus on sustainable fabric, eco-friendly clothing, and brands—like Scotch & Soda, Lazypants, and miles baby—that you can’t find widely in the Cincinnati area.”

The store’s back playroom keeps big kids under control while you browse, and a lactation room means a comfortable visit for everyone involved. Mostly, though, Hutch Baby’s cachet lies in its frequently evolving style: The shop stocks clothing so cute and cool, you’ll wish they had them in your size. Look for unisex down jackets from nununu, comfy footies by Baby Noomie, and trendy prints from miles baby. Plus, natural brands like Turtledove London and L’ovedbaby illustrate Hutch Baby’s commitment to offering organic cotton options, along with a range of thoughtful skincare products and accessories like ergonomic baby spoons.

Make a day of it with Hutch Baby’s mommy-and-me yoga, or at play dates, held for all ages on the first Thursday of each month from 10 a.m-11 a.m. And new this year: Hutch Baby will be offering family portraits (with online booking) shot by house photographer Alexis Wilson.
