Thanks to the city’s robust German heritage, the tri-state is lousy with German-themed festival around this time of year. Prost!


Newport Oktoberfest
This year’s Newport festival includes new food vendors and expanded attractions like Schmidt’s Famous Sausages and Glier’s Goetta as well as a full carnival. Don’t miss Moerlein Lager House’s special Winner Winner Chicken Dinner deal, featuring half a chicken served with braised cabbage, German potatoes, and a one-liter souvenir stein of import, craft, or domestic beer for just $29.99. Oktoberfest Loveland
Downtown Loveland turns into a German village for its Oktoberfest celebration. Grab a stein of the famous Warsteiner draft or try a beer from DVD Brewery and Bad Tom Smith’s Brewing.  Just don’t get too blitzed before you take a ride on the mechanical bull! Other activities include the Big 6 wheel game, the stein slide, live entertainment, a Biergarten, and a wiener dog race. September 13 & 14, 126 Karl Brown Way, Loveland


Covington Oktoberfest
Braxton Brewing Company is once again co-sponsoring this Covington festival which will feature more than 30 beers from local, regional, and German breweries. Soak it all it up with German food from local vendors and restaurants while perusing the merch booth, listening to live music, or joining in on the interactive activities and competitions.

Figtoberfest
Head out to Middletown for FigLeaf Brewing’s Figtoberfest this weekend. Shop local vendors and crafters while munching on potato pancakes and chugging the brewery’s beers on tap, sign up for the water pong tournament, or pull out your lederhosen and enter the German costume contest. Oktoberfest Zinzinnati
The grandaddy of the area’s Oktoberfest celebrations, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is taking over Sawyer Point and Yeatman’s Cove for its 48th rendition of this popular festival. The event will feature more than 25 local, regional, national and German breweries, and dozens of activities and entertainment acts, including the Zinzinnati Zirkus, the Zinzinnati Bierband, The Fest Meisters, Cincinnati Schnapps Band, and Rich Walburg World’s Largest Chicken Dance. Oxtoberfest
Oxford is holding its third annual German-themed fall festival featuring stein-holding contests, local artisans and vendors, and live music. September 21, 14 West Park Place, Oxford


Lebanon Oktoberfest
The 11th annual Lebanon Oktoberfest features live German-style music, food vendors, a kid’s zone, and German and local craft beers. Proceeds from the Lebanon Oktoberfest go to both the Miller Ecological Park and the Warren County Environmental Forum, a nonprofit that funds conservation and environmentally conscious practices throughout Warren County.
