Hardwood-smoked and hickory-grilled are the buzzwords of choice at Big Art’s in Colerain Township, and the bedrock of their all-beef meatloaf, which manages to be moist and tender despite its introductory slow smoke and secondary grilling. While the pulled pork has a slightly bizarre presentation (a pile snaking across a platter), it is textbook tender and balanced for both sweetness and heat, and the pork ribs are the fixins of west side legend. Solid sides include the Cajun-fried potatoes, garnished with plenty of green onion, or the classic coleslaw, laced with lashes of garlic salt. Service is harried but friendly, especially when weekend crowds get hangry.
