Whether you’re an antiques devotee or a casual window-shopper, Traverse City is for lovers—vintage lovers, that is.
Set aside a whole Saturday to explore this Michigan town’s massive antique malls. Wilson’s Antiques is a four-story trove of old coins, historic toys, vintage sporting goods, and other kitschy finds. If gadgets are more your thing, swing by nearby Grey Wolf Creek for early 20th century lamps, fixtures, and other tech doohickeys.
Hardcore shoppers will find plenty to choose from in vintage furnishings, clothing, jewelry, and artwork at Bay West Antiques, just a couple blocks from Grey Wolf Creek. And the Cherryland Antique Mall and Consignment Center requires an hour or two of attention with its 88 vendor booths.
There are some great finds on the outskirts of Traverse City, too. Both Rolling Hills Antiques & Art and Walt and Susan’s Old Barn are housed in renovated dairy barns Rolling Hills’s dates back to 1870, and is now a combination home/retail store/workshop, providing even more multi-storied antique hunting.
