Made in Ohio Festival

Hale Farm and Village is notable in its own right. With a living history museum that reflects the 19th-century Western Reserve; a farm complete with horses, chicken, cows, sheep, and oxen; and all the craftsmanship of a day in the life of an early American—glass-blowing, pottery, candle making, blacksmithing, basket weaving—Hale Farm and Village already has enough for a day’s worth of exploring.

When combined with the Made in Ohio Arts and Crafts Festival, however, it’s is a destination that merits the four-hour jaunt up I-71. Renee Flynn launched the festival in 2010. She’s a resident of Bath, Ohio, who had dreamed of a showcase for Ohio’s finest artisans. This year’s festival (August 30) will feature more than 100 vendors, as well as local restaurants, coffee, brews, and entertainment.

Paired perfectly with the backdrop of the historic village, the festival is packed with Ohio’s DIY aficionados, such as upcyclers who transform billboard scraps into tote bags, jewelry artists, and quilters. Enjoy live music or wander the village to chat with any of the costumed historians or artisans about the time period and their craft.

Fill up on Old Carolina BBQ’s ribs and pulled pork, then wash it down with a coconut cream cone from Schloneger’s Homemade Ice Cream or a scoop of Sicilian Pistachio gelato from the Café Arnone food truck.

Stop by Hale Farm and Village between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for the festival, and enjoy the discounted entrance fee of $5 onto the grounds.
