In 1914, this Athens barn housed dairy cows. In 2014, it’s home to works from regional and international artists, and it hosts juried shows including the Quilt National exhibit. The building made it onto the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, with thanks to artist Harriet Anderson and her husband Ora, who petitioned to transform it into an arts center. Drop by before September 1 to see Art We Use, focused on the craftsmanship of everyday objects—like tables, spoons, lamps, and baskets. The Dairy Barn Arts Center also offers summer camps for kids throughout the month of August, focusing on architecture and kitschy crafts the week of August 4 and on fantasy worlds and imaginary animals the week of August 11.
