Top 5 Kid-Friendly Events This Week

70

Are your kids already out of school for the summer? Then you’re probably looking for ways to keep them busy. Here are five ideas:

1. Teen Maker Lab at Main Library
We’re big fans of the MakerSpace at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County’s main branch. Help your teens learn how to take full advantage with this hands-on sewing class where they can make DIY pillows and tote bags (using their fabric or fabric from the library). May 19, 4–5 p.m., cincinnatilibrary.org

2. The Butterfly Show at Krohn Conservatory
This is one of the most popular family-centric events all year long. What kid doesn’t love a room full of fluttering butterflies? Read our by-the-numbers guide to the show here. Through June 21, cincinnatiparks.com

3. Farmer’s Markets
We love the Central Ohio River Valley Local Food Guide, which helps farm-loving folks find the best markets for produce, dairy products, and everything in between. Get your kiddos going on some good habits. All summer, eatlocalcorv.org

4. Nature Festival
The Miami Whitewater Forest Harbor hosts two hands-on days of scavenger hunts, crafts, and other nature-themed activities. May 23 & 24, greatparks.org

5. Zoo Babies
This annual event is a must-see for your own little animal. This year, meet three spanking-new lion cubs! Through May 31, cincinnatizoo.org
