Top 5: An Over-the-Rhine Lunch and Shopping Date

64

With Music Hall and a renovated Washington Park as anchors, new boutiques and cafés continue to pop up in OTR like mushrooms after a rain. We found four shops and a lunch spot to fill out your perfect afternoon.

1. Substance

Says Substance owner Christina Getachew: “Our focus is sustainability.” Pick up pretty dresses from Spain’s Skunkfunk line, vegan friendly totes and handbags, and organic candles from Columbus, Ohio.

2. Mannequin Boutique

Mannequin owner Moe Rouse curates an ever-rotating selection of gently used items from labels such as Prada, Valentino, Ferragamo, Dries van Noten, and Coach—all at affordable prices—benefitting local charities.

3. MiCA

Carolyn Deininger and her husband, Mike, are the creative owners behind MiCA and have been supplying Cincinnati with the hippest fine craft jewelry, gifts, and home accessories for the last 10 years.

4. Iris Bookcafé

It’s the stock’s variety in this literary-minded coffeehouse that will really surprise you. Browse vintage books about art, philosophy, cooking, fashion, languages, Americana, and more. Plus, Iris claims to carry the largest collection of Polish books in the city.

5. Senate

Senate wasn’t the first restaurant on the block, but its appearance signaled the OTR revival. Indulge in one of their signature hot dogs, like the Korean (homemade kimchi and braised short rib).
