Whether you’ve been friend-zoned, heartbroken, or just prefer the company of friends more than lovers, here are five things to do with your pals on February 14.

1. 50/50 Art Show and Sale
The Covington Arts folks are keeping this second-annual event simple: 50 artists selling works for $50 apiece. The artworks will be showcased Feb. 10 – 13, 9 am to 5 pm Visitors can purchase their favorite pieces starting at 6 pm Friday, and it’s cash (or check)-and-carry, so be sure to stop at the ATM beforehand.

2. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company
Following their very minor appearances in Hamlet, these two ridiculous courtiers (and friends) retake the stage to tell their own ill-fated tale. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern will have you laughing out loud (at them, not with them) as they’re stuck in the dark trying to comprehend the events they can’t see occurring on Hamlet’s stage. You’ll be glad to have friendly companionship for the entertainment and the existential questions of such an evening.

3. Ice Skating at Fountain Square
If you haven’t had enough ice this winter, you better not miss your last chance to skate on it. Feb. 14 is the final day to glide across Fountain Square on the U.S. Bank Ice Rink. Put logistical concerns to rest: Skate rentals, lockers, and concessions are all available on the square.

4. Penguin Days at the Cincinnati Zoo
These guys may be the only ones in Cincinnati who aren’t totally over the freezing temperatures, and they just so happen to be some of the cutest. Enjoy half-price zoo admission through the end of the month, and check out the scheduled encounters with some cool-weather creatures—particularly the King penguins parading at 11 am and 2:30 pm daily. Their waddling will warm any heart.

If the object of your fancy is an escape into a world of magic, jousting, puppets, and beautiful performance, you’re in luck. As the highlight of its 50th season, the Cincinnati Ballet is world-premiering Camelot for what the company calls its “biggest full-length ballet adventure in decades.” You can meet the artists at 7 pm, before the show begins at 8.
