Whether you’re a foodie fanatic or a die-hard country music fan, there’s something for everyone on our Top 5 list this week.
Now in its 35th year, Taste of Cincinnati—the nation’s longest running culinary arts festival—has established itself as one of our most anticipated events. Join the more than 500,000 diners that flock to the Taste each year for the opportunity to sample all of the best cuisine Cincinnati has to offer. Live musical performances are scheduled for the entire three-day festival. May 25-27, Fountain Square, downtown, free, tasteofcincinnati.com
Head over to the Taft Museum any time this week to see the earliest photographic historical accounts of Cincinnati life in the mid-19th century. As one of the largest cities in the country at the time, Cincinnati offered an unprecedented mix of culture, scenery, and industry, all of which will be on display. Thru July 21, 316 Pike St., downtown, $10, taftmuseum.org
Two of the country music’s biggest stars will breeze through Riverbend this weekend. Touted as one of the biggest shows on the venue’s summer lineup, there’s very limited seating left available. But we’re not sure how we feel about the name “Brantley.” May 25, Riverbend Music Center, 6295 Kellog Ave., ticketmaster.com
Take the kids down to Great American Ballpark for an afternoon game against the Chicago Cubs. You might want to sneak up to the concession stands in the 8th or 9th inning to grab a few extra coneys and a fresh beer. Because The Beach Boys take the stage after the game ends. However—and this is a big however—when you read the fine print, you’ll see that Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks will not be performing. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. May 26 - 1:10 p.m., Great American Ball Park, downtown, ticketmaster.com
Bust out your white tuxedo for this formal fundraising event at Horseshoe Casino. Enjoy plenty of schmoozing with local notables (hilariously, DJ Biz Markie will be there) and gamble for a good cause: Proceeds benefit Operation Step Up, which assists Cincinnati’s underprivileged youth. Just try not to lose your house. May 25, The Horseshoe Casino, Downtown, VIP $60, 2013dreamisrealweekend.eventbrite.com
