As you may have heard, the color experts at Pantone Color Institute announced not one but two colors of the year for 2016: Rose Quartz (light pink) and Serenity (baby blue).

“Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace,” says the company’s press release, noting that the combination was chosen to counteract the stresses of daily life and reflect modern gender equality.

And though 2016 is still weeks away, look no further than Best of the City winner Continuum to deliver the (calming?) pastel goods.

A recent visit to the boutique at 1407 Vine Street revealed a bounty of cotton candy-hued merchandise, including ceramics from local artists ck-tc, marbled leather goods from Scout & Catalogue, and cool clocks from A to B Studio. If you’re into awesome wall decor, local creatives Jessie Cundiff, Una Floral, Fern, and photographer Brooke Shanesy collaborated with Continuum to create a canvas poster that features an unabashedly rosy background.

As it turns out, Mark Twain was wrong. Not only is Cincinnati right on trend, this time we’re ahead of the curve.
