Fall Style Guide: Necklace Layering

“Mixing rose gold and black diamond, or yellow gold with white diamond, is very on-trend right now,” says Kerry Grote-Mock of Peek of Chic. Her tips for the best necklace-layering balance:

a) A standard short necklace is 15 inches long, and should lay along your clavicle. Put one on and add a longer, 16- to 18-inch necklace underneath.

b) The bulkier/chunkier piece should be longer—you want the dainty, delicate ones up around your neck.

You can always add pieces to your collection. If it’s a piece you absolutely love and are going to wear all the time, invest in “real” jewels. If it’s trendy or for a specific event, buy costume.
