Vintage wedding dresses Cincinnati

Attention brides-to-be and vintage buffs: NVISION is set to showcase a selection of vintage bridal items in an upcoming show called As You Wish.

It’s an exhibit of wedding dresses and accessories from the 1930s to modern day, and it will be installed on mannequins, on the walls, and in display cases—as an actual art exhibit,” says store owner Emily Buddendeck. “Many brides-to-be are opting for a more DIY approach, spending less by seeking out vintage and secondhand pieces, and then opting to add some personalization to the dress by way of the efforts of a seamstress, altering, tailoring, or embellishing the dress.

“It can be more true to the bride’s personality than simply buying something off the rack ready to wear,” Buddendeck says. “We’re seeing that anything goes now, pulling pieces and inspiration from a variety of time periods and adding a twist or two, not being afraid to buck tradition, and instead do ‘as you wish.’” An experienced seamstress herself, Buddendeck says, “I’m showing vintage dresses, but I’m also encouraging future brides to look at a dress for its bones and to see how it could be tailored and modified to suit their personal taste.”

The show opens this Saturday, February 8, and will remain on view through March 23.

(Note: NVISION’s sixth anniversary sale will also be taking place February 26–March 2, so plan accordingly.)
