Casamatic is eHarmony for Home-Buying

Lurking around on local real estate sites is one of our favorite pastimes (in fact, it’s a phenomenon that we’ve written about in this very magazine). But finding the right home requires more than just a passing interest in what’s out there. You need to know how that home is going to fit into your lifestyle, and typical sites don’t offer that kind of information. Casamatic, based here in Cincinnati, wants to change that.

Co-Founder and CEO Alex Bowman explains that the site matches people to their perfect home by getting to know them—just like a dating site helps you find a partner by asking you about your interests. “The way that you look on home search sites is by neighborhood,” says Bowman, “but they don’t give you the tools to look broadly.” Casamatic’s site is built differently: It starts by asking you what city you want to live in (Casamatic currently serves Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, and will be in Chicago by end of summer). Once you select your city, you can start to drill down on your lifestyle preferences.

Next, the site tries to get a picture of your food needs (you know you have them).

The most fun part? You might just find a great home in a neighborhood that you never would have considered. And it’s totally free to use. What’s not to love?
