Urban Artifact’s Wacky Weekend Events

If you’re looking for weekend activities that are heavy on fun but light on holiday spirit (not super-bountiful this time of year), check out the lineup at Urban Artifact, the craft brewery in the former St. Patrick’s church in Northside. (Urban Artifact specializes in “wild” beers—meaning, as they explain on their website, “each and every one of our beers is brewed with locally caught wild yeast, bacteria, or mixed cultures of both.” They even have a hashtag: #wildculture)

Beers aside, this weekend certainly promises a bit of wildness, especially on Friday night. The Nashville-based all-lady Rage Against the Machine tribute band Take the Power Back headlines (Hateflirt and The Slippery Lips also perform). TTPB’s Katy Lyles effectively channels Zack de la Rocha, as evidenced by this rendition of “Bullet in the Head”:

The following evening switches gears so completely you might think you’re on another planet. You’ll definitely be in another era. Saturday night, Jazz singer and trumpet player Dan Radank (a.k.a. Old Green Eyes) headlines two shows with Dominic Marino and The Chairman of the Board Orchestra in celebration of Frank Sinatra’s centennial.

We think Mr. Sinatra would approve.
