Spotted: Spring Craft Cocktails at the Jeff Ruby Restaurants

215

Spring fever is hitting especially hard this year, and mixologists are not immune. Paul Wright of the Jeff Ruby group rolled out some stellar drinks this past weekend to help diners wash away the last of the cabin fever. Wright is dedicated to scratch-made ingredients, including his own smoked cola (a complex brew with notes of lavender, clove, grains of paradise, and sassafras), which is featured in the Midnight Cowboy, a modern twist on Jack and Coke. Wright’s version pairs cherry-infused Jack Daniels with the aforementioned cola and drunken cherries. The Peach Shrub is nothing if not the essence of spring, with peach, ginger beer, and Tanqueray gin. But my personal favorite was the Tequila Mockingbird, a combination of two-months aged Creole Shrubb orange liqueur, jalapeño- and cucumber-infused Milagro tequila, and pineapple-flavored vinegar shrub. While the Midnight Cowboy and the Peach Shrub are available at all three locations, the Tequila Mockingbird is a Carlo & Johnny exclusive. All drinks are $12.
