Get It: The Findlay Market Cookbook

390

An ode to Cincinnati’s culinary epicenter hit shelves this fall. The Findlay Market Cookbook is the third in a series of independently published cookbooks from Farm Fresh Books focused on public markets. After contributing to Columbus’s North Market book (released in 2013), Taste of Belgium owner Jean-Francois Flechet pitched one that would focus on the OTR market where his waffles first took off. The book features profiles of roughly 75 vendors and more than 100 recipes from merchants as well as local chefs—including Jean-Robert de Cavel, Jose Salazar, and Cristian Pietoso. Market regulars can re-create Velvet Smoke BBQ’s award-winning smoked pork tenderloin and Mama Lo Hizo’s fish tacos. “It’s a homegrown mash-up: Cincinnati cookbook meets local history text,” explains author/editor Bryn Mooth, who edits Edible Ohio Valley. “All the recipes are Cincinnati-specific. Many are seasonal recipes featuring ingredients available at Findlay Market.” The book is available exclusively at Findlay Market through the end of the year and will be available in 2015 at area bookstores.
