Brunch Report: Symphony Hotel

279

Washington Park is a hot playground destination on weekends. The interactive water park and playground with climbing castle, sandbox, slides, and swings is a favorite at our house and I’m always game to pair it up with Sunday brunch. I bribe my kid to sit still and clean his plate with the proviso that he gets to work off plenty of steam on the swings afterwards. Fortunately for all parties involved, OTR is rife with brunching possibilities. For straightforward fare in a lovely historic setting, look no further than the Symphony Hotel, just around the corner from Music Hall. Expect American classics—pancakes, omelettes, French toast, and a strata—made with seasonal produce, much of which is sourced from neighbor Findlay Market. Heads up: Do not miss the Bloody Mary. With so many bars in town crafting over-the-top examples (garnished with everything but the kitchen sink), the Symphony’s version is an elegant, pitch-perfect rendition of the drink with just enough horseradish and lemon.
