Hyde Park Blast

171

If you’ve ever wanted to run with those uber-fit Hyde Parkers and their lululemons, now is your chance: The Hyde Park Blast is this Saturday, June 28. There’s a 4-mile run/walk through Hyde Park starting at 7:30 a.m., kids’ races at 9 a.m., and an elite race at 8 p.m. for the most competitive (and fittest…) among us. And if running’s not your style but you’re a whiz on a bike, check out the cycling races in the afternoon.  (Heads up, Hyde Parkers: Expect road closures.)

Enjoy kegs and eggs post-race (Coors Light and Frisch’s Big Boy!), then kick off your gym shoes and relax at the Block Party where you can engage in even more calorie restoration care of Dewey’s Pizza and Taste of Belgium. Flip Cup All-Stars, Danny Frazier Band, and The Websters will provide a live soundtrack.

Founded by Hyde Park residents, this unique event rallies locals around fun, physical activity, and a good cause: cancer research and support communities. Since 2001, the event has raised more than $300,000 for CancerFree Kids, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Cancer Support Community, The Cure Starts Now Foundation, and the Shemenski Foundation. This year’s proceeds again benefit The Cure Starts Now Foundation and the Shemenski Foundation.
