Colerain’s Historic Forfeit

Colerain High School was poised to win its first state championship in 1995 when an anonymous caller alerted the school to a potentially ineligible player only a week before the final game. The player had only been on the team for two years, but it was his fifth year of high school. After the school alerted state athletic officials, Colerain forfeited its spot in the championship game and its perfect 13–0 season. The program earned its first state title in 2004.
