On Sept. 24, 1848, eight daguerreotypes taken by Charles Fontayne and William Porter captured a two-mile swath of the Cincinnati riverfront—the oldest known photographic image of an American city. See it in person and interact with it at the Main Library. Photos from the Collection of the Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County.
