For Stephanie Owens, it was all about the ring. When fiance Alexander Boyd proposed in Bora Bora—setting the diamond-inlaid stunner in a nest of fuchsia petals and green palm fronds on their bed’s white duvet—she so loved the “bling-y” presentation she knew then she’d found her wedding theme. “I wanted sparkle, and [sparkle] became the concept of the wedding,” Stephanie says.
Every detail of the day exuded glamour, from the custom French-vanilla-and-lemon five-tiered cake to Stephanie’s crystal-encrusted Christian Louboutins to the white Rolls Royce limousine and red carpet rolled out before the church. “We had crystals and rose petals sprinkled everywhere,” she says. The Hall of Mirrors at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, where the reception was held, was the perfect backdrop for Stephanie’s vision. “I went there once for a luncheon, and I just fell in love,” she recalls. “So of course, when Alexander proposed, I said, ‘Mom, we’ve got to go look at this place.’ ”
She had no qualms about going great lengths to perfect every detail, be it ordering chairs from Chicago for the bridal table or flying in a photographer from Florida. Her dress was a Lazaro gown that the designer himself customized for her, and she even flew in famed makeup artist Christian Balenciaga (of Real Housewives fame) and a hair stylist from Atlanta. The end result was exactly as she imagined: “Everywhere you looked you would see some form of sparkle,” Stephanie laughs. “I love my wedding—I could look at pictures of it all day.”
