Cincinnati wedding 2015 bridal market preview

With the 2015 Bridal Market coming up soon, we asked some of our favorite local boutiques and designers what they’re most looking forward to seeing and doing during the bridal shows in New York City. Here’s a taste of what you can expect next year:

Tina Minshall, General Manager, Bridal and Formal

What are you looking for or hoping to see?

I would love to see beautiful beadwork on the new gowns. Lace has been dominant for the last few years and it seems as if local brides are ready for more sparkle on their special day. Whether that means luscious fabrics adorned with embroidery and beadwork or the traditional lace that is enhanced with pearls and sequins, brides-to-be want to shimmer and shine on their wedding day.

Lace sleeves are also something I would like to see in the new collections. The sheer glamour of a thin Chantilly lace sleeve will instantly draw comparisons to the elegance of Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy.

What part of the trip are you most looking forward to?

The things that I am most looking forward to are the runway shows produced by the industry’s top designers such as Reem Acra and Matthew Christopher. The anticipation and excitement that you feel at the beginning of a show is exhilarating.

What are you looking for or hoping to see? Market is always such an exciting time for designers and retailers alike. I am looking forward to seeing the new Vera Wang collection as last season’s collection was so in tune with my own ideas (I’m interested to see if the evolution has gone in a similar direction). I have been inspired by Game of Thrones as well as my own work featured in Reign, which has pushed the envelope towards organic bohemian flavors.

What part of the trip are you most looking forward to? We are showing and staying at The London hotel for the first time and we hope to try some of Gordon Ramsey’s signature dishes.

Victoria Kotsovos, Owner, Kotsovos Bridal, Furs & Prom

What are you looking for or hoping to see? We are hoping to see more long sleeve gowns this year—they’re huge in bridal right now; brides are requesting them more and more. We are also watching for some simpler silhouettes, for a clean, fresh look, and super low backs. Lastly, we are looking forward to picking up a new plus size line from Allure Bridals, Allure Women.

What part of the trip are you most looking forward to? We can’t wait to see some old friends in the industry and compare stories with people who know where we’re coming from in our day-to-day business.

Amanda Cacaro, Owner, Amanda’s Hyde Park Bridal

What are you looking for or hoping to see? More beaded gowns and illusion necklines! For accessories we are hoping to see more gold!

What part of the trip are you most looking forward to? The JLM Couture runway show on Friday night! Many of our designers (Hayley Paige, Blush by Hayley Paige, Alvina Valenta, Tara Keely by Lazaro and Ti Adora) are from JLM Couture so we get to see all of the new collections in one runway show which is so much fun! We just picked up a new line for Hyde Park Bridal (Paloma Blanca) so we can’t wait to see all of their new gorgeous gowns in person as well!

What are you looking for or hoping to see?

In NYC, I am searching for one more designer that will complement the other amazing designers that I already feature in my boutique.  This designer needs to have something completely different and unique than the many other designers that are represented in the bridal district.  I am searching for a more fun, edgy and fashionable look for my brides that are tired of the same ole “lace fit and flare.”

I have my eye on a couple of designers that are not represented in the whole state of Ohio or in the entire tri-state, for that matter! I LOVE showcasing designers that the bride cannot find anywhere else. This way, Lace Bridal Couture is a destination store for many brides that are searching for that one particular look or designer.

What part of the trip are you most looking forward to?

My favorite part of our trip to NYC is getting to meet all of the bridal designers in person—I am pretty much “star-struck” when I actually get to meet and speak with the actual designer whose gowns we feature in our boutique.

It’s also a much needed getaway for my husband and I. It’s so nice to leave the boutique for a couple of days and get inspired by all the energy that NYC has to offer!
