Attention senior citizens: Just when you thought romance was dead, along comes Cincinnati Playhouse’s valentine: Chapatti, Irish playwright Christian O’Reilly’s gentle tale of two lonely souls, which opens February 7. Set in working class Dublin, it’s the story of widower Dan and divorcee Betty, whose solitary lives are upended when they meet. She’s a cat lady; he’s a dog lover; and that’s what they bond over. The piece promises gentle comedy and genuine get-out-your-handkerchief moments. Sadly, no actual dogs or cats were pressed into service for the play. Because no actor wants to appear on stage with a pet. Opens Feb 7, cincyplay.com
