The Roar of the Greasepaint, the Smell of the Eggnog!

79

Summer vacation hasn’t arrived yet, but it’s not too early to contemplate your child’s Christmas break. Especially if he/she has a flare for the dramatic and the ability to do a credible imitation of Harry Potter.

The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park needs nine kids for roles (speaking and non-speaking) in A Christmas Carol.   Children 8 to 13 are eligible; plus they’re looking for a boy between 6 and 8 to play Tiny Tim. Playhouse staff hasn’t publicized any physical requirements for child actors, but presumably Tiny Tim candidates should be reasonably waif-like.

Children should send the Playhouse a recent photo and a resume that lists any stage experience. Those called to audition will be asked to present a one-minute monologue, story, or poem using a British accent. Rehearsals begin mid-November, the production opens November 26 and it runs through December 28. If cast, a child must be available for all rehearsals (they’re scheduled around school hours) and performances, so the time commitment is considerable. But nothing will get the family in the Christmas spirit faster.
