The City Flea Rides Again

Add a comment

Since its inception in 2011, The City Flea has collaborated with more than 200 local vendors to bring a unique, urban, curated market to Cincinnati.

Founded by Cincinnati-born, Brooklyn-bred couple Nick and Lindsay Dewald, the Flea embodies the Dewald’s mission to infuse the Brooklyn bohemian vibe into their home turf while encouraging an appreciation of some of Cincinnati’s finest artists and entrepreneurs.

The next Fleas, held at Washington Park on September 20 and October 11, will host plenty of vintage, handmade, and local goods. Flip through the racks at On the Prowl Vintage for enough high-waisted, floral-patterned, lace-necked garments to make any Brooklynite jealous.

Check out FERNfor mini planters and one-of-a-kind 3D pottery to host your choice of spiky succulents.  For organic, raw cultured veggies and the best ’kraut in town, try FAB Ferments, a farm-to-fork business with everything from beet kvass to curry sauerkraut. Van Vintage Design offers Mason jar soap dispensers and spray bottles in a rainbow of colors, but don’t miss the real showstoppers: custom-design chandeliers, crafted from glass jars and bourbon bottles.

For sustenance, head to the park’s perimeter, where you’ll find a fleet of food trucks. Try C’est Cheese’s Bee Sting for a toasty, melty mess of gooey mozzarella and bold pepperoni, sandwiched between honey-infused bread, or hit up Waffo for a bizarre yet delicious blend of Belgium and South-of-the-Border cuisine: waffles with the topping of your choice that are folded in half like a taco.

To top it all off, grab a smooth and surprisingly sweet avocado-flavored treat from Street Pops’ artisan popsicle stand and take a seat on the lawn to soak up some rays and the Flea’s live band music. August 16, September 20, October 11; Washington Park, 1230 Elm St., Over-the-Rhine, thecityflea.com
