Who says farewell is forever? Certainly not Nickel Creek. Seven years after completing the “Farewell (For Now) Tour” and 25 years after forming in Vista, California, the acclaimed bluegrass trio is back together again. A Dotted Line, the long-awaited follow-up to 2005’s Why Should the Fire Die?, finds the band’s three members—fiddler Sara Watkins, guitarist Sean Watkins, and mandolinist Chris Thile—in typically virtuosic form, moving from the jaunty “Destination” to the somber “Elise” with uncommon fluidity.
