Playwright Katori Hall’s The Mountaintop reimagines the evening prior to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination in Memphis on April 4, 1968. Set entirely in room 306 of the Lorraine Motel, the play centers on King’s wide-ranging conversation with a maid named Camae, a feisty young woman who proves to be more than she seems. As the pair share Pall Mall cigarettes, King seems to know his fate on this earth might be sealed.March 19–April 6, Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, ensemblecincinnati.org
