Growing up, did you have an ‘ah-ha’ moment with makeup? I was 8 and playing a rabbit in a CCM production. I wore a wig, full prosthetics, and I was in the makeup chair for hours. I was fascinated and told my mom right then that this was what I wanted to do. It was the love of theater makeup that fostered the love for beauty.
What are your favorite products? I’m all for putting your money into basics—primer, concealer, foundation, and setting powder.
What foundation do you wear? Silk Crème by Laura Mercier. It’s heavy coverage and has a lot of yellow in it so it covers redness, but it doesn’t feel heavy at all.
Do you ever buy drugstore makeup? My favorite lip gloss in the whole world is Jordana InColor Squeeze n’ Shine Super Tasty in Lollipop. I buy it at Walgreens. I use it on brides, and on top of color—it tastes good and it’s cheap! L’Oreal has nice eye shadows and Revlon makes good blush. Wet n Wild has a nice bronzer.
You have a new studio at the Wedding Mall in Covington. How do you plan to beautify it? I really want a beautiful, girly chandelier. I saw one at HighStreet but it’s $3,000! I’m going to have to do a lot of makeup.
