The Annual Utica Ice Cream Festival, a.k.a Dreams Do Come True

84

Drive just two and a half hours northeast from Cincinnati, and you’ll find yourself in scenic Utica, home of the Utica Sertoma Ice Cream Festival, held on the grounds of the Velvet Ice Cream Company (a hometown brand since 1914).

In addition to the requisite ice cream offerings—including an eating contest—this unintentionally hilarious festival has a wandering banjo player, a ham-and-bean tent, an egg toss, pony rides, a “fun time magic show,” a parade, and a Little Miss Ice Cream Princess Pageant. It’s almost like your grandpa works at Velvet and you just got invited to the best company picnic ever.

May 24–26, Admission is $5 per car, uticaoldfashionedicecreamfestival.com
