This one’s for all the gluten-free readers out there. If you (like me) love a good banh mi sandwich, Kitchen 452’s salad will be right up your alley. The East Walnut Hills culinary duo (Leah Joos and Jen Lile) pair a nice mix of greens and cilantro leaves with non-greasy Vietnamese-spiced pork crumbles, shredded carrot, pickled cucumbers, and dots of Sriracha sauce. A spot-on lime-nuoc mam (fermented fish sauce) vinaigrette is served alongside. While I did miss the pâté and baguette just a bit, it’s a light and flavorful, not to mention creative, alternative. I’d order it again.
