If you grew up on the east side of Cincinnati, you probably remember your first Zip’s burger. As far as classic burger joints go in these parts, it’s pretty iconic. Which is why I feel compelled to mention that their tuna salad sandwich is on par, if not a little bit better. They keep it simple with white albacore tuna, dressed with just enough mayo to hold together (but not so much as to sog out the bread) and pile it high with half-moons of white onion, lettuce, tomatoes, and dill pickle slices on the bread of your choice, which in my case is always toasted marble rye. It’s hefty and filling, but without the indigestion-inducing grease, which can put a damper on afternoon productivity levels. It’s an alternative worth considering. Now if they’d just turn down that lunchtime air conditioning…
